You’re probably thinking “What on earth is Chuseok?”! Well, it’s the Korean mid-autumn festival, I guess it’s fair to say that a good description would that it’s like Korean Thanksgiving. Dropping by Seoul for a couple of days, I hadn’t twigged our trip would coincide with the holiday.
As a result, Seoul was completely empty. Most Seoulites use the holiday to return to their hometowns and often this includes a trip into the countryside to the family burial sites to pay respects to their ancestors. As neither Mark nor I have any family to visit or ancestors to pay respects to, we opted for a trip to Everland instead!
It’s been a good three years or so since my last trip there so it was weird walking around and remembering exactly where everything is – we didn’t even need a map!
